For Saab it May Be So Cold in the D

How the f–k are we gonna keep peace when it’s so cold in the D?! That’s the question Saab & GM will have to answer, with an announcement that the motor company is checking out sites for a new corp. headquarters. One of those locations is beautiful downtown Detroit Rock City. Actually, Royal Oak, Michigan, (fifteen miles from Detroit) is being scouted – you can’t move into downtown right now anyway, as Michael Bay is blowing it up for his Red Dawn remake.

Saab somehow has $2.2 million saved up to invest in a location and construction. This Detroit location will be home to “mostly sales and marketing functions.” The building in question is 13,000 square feet and boasts the few amenities necessary to Saab’s situation: offices for 50 people and a large garage according to autoblog.
A Saab spokesperson said Royal Oak is “trendy” and fits “our customer demographics.” It all rests with the amount of tax abatement Royal Oak can provide. Many would prefer to see Saab back in New England, as the company began in Connecticut when it first came to America.
