Saab launched the 9-7x in 2005 as a way to diversify its model lineup. Based off the SUV platform of other GM models, the 9-7X is powerful and comfortable with little changes for the 2008 model year. The Saab 9-7X differentiates itself from other SUVs in its family through distinctively styled interior and exterior features.

This premium midsize SUV comes in three trim levels: the 4.2i, 5.3 and Aero. The 4.2i has 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, leather seating, OnStar communications, satellite radio and MP3-compatible Bose audio. The 5.3i trim adds V8 power, xenon HID headlamps and power-adjustable pedals. The high-performance Aero trim upgrades to 20-inch wheels and Carbon Flash charcoal metallic paint.

Powered by GM engines, all trim levels run on an all-wheel-drive, four-speed automatic transmission. The 4.2i features an inline six-cylinder that produces up to 285 horsepower; while the 5.3i on V8 engine generates 300 horsepower. The 6.0-liter V8 engine of the Aero blows the other trims away when producing its maximum of 390 horsepower.

To set apart from competitors, Saab made a series of changes to suspension and steering to create a different SUV experience. The 9-7X comes with the standard safety features that include antilock disc brakes, OnStar communications and stability control.
